This collaboration between the Alexander Vasilyev Foundation and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation features displays of rare items from globally renowned fashion designers such as Chanel, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Laroche, Cassini, Valentino and many more. Overall, the exhibition presents 100 pieces of clothing and 350 accessories from the 1960s from the Alexander Vasilyev Foundation's unique collection.
Elaborating on the concept, a press release for the exhibition reads: The 1960’s is one of the most revolutionary decades of the last century. The unexpected challenge of this period resulted in some really tangible developments in public life and fashion. Space flights by the first astronaut Yuri Gagarin in 1961, followed by the first woman astronaut, Valentina Tereshkova (1963), impacted the world of fashion and found their way to the works by Parisian stylists. The cosmic era in fashion known for extraordinary types of footwear, headwear, and other accessories was over with the first moon flight by the US astronauts in 1969. A sizeable selection of clothes, shoes, and hats inspired by these futuristic ideas are to be displayed at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
