Last Saturday Visions witnessed music, colour and pomegranates galore at the annual Pomegranate Festival in Goychay, the Azerbaijani homeland of this majestic fruit. Given that the country is thought to be the only one to grow all the various types, which range in colour from pale yellow to burgundy, it’s no wonder the pomegranate has become somewhat of a national icon. In honour of this, the Festival has taken place at the height of the harvest each year since 2006, but this year’s event seemed to have grown in scale; over two days the local authorities estimated the number of visitors at 30,000.

Stay tuned for a full report from the festival in the winter issue of the magazine, but in the meantime we hope this short video gives a sense of the atmosphere and spirit. Visions had a thoroughly good time!
